It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Janica. I have known Janica for almost one year. My two daughters took piano lessons with Janica beginning last September 2014. The progress that they made during their ten months with Janica as a teacher far exceeded any expectations I had and demonstrated to me what a wonderful teacher she is. Not only did my two daughters grow as a piano player but they gained more confidence in themselves. Playing and practicing the piano was not a chore but rather an activity they performed happily and voluntarily. Janica was able to impart his enthusiasm and love of playing the piano onto my two daughters. I was able to observe a few of my daughter's lessons. This is where I witnessed the wonderful connection that developed between teacher and student. Janica would relish in my daughters’ accomplishments and acknowledge each newly learned measure of music. She was very proud of each and every student as was evident during recitals. Each student, regardless of their level of knowledge, performed their piano piece with excitement and enthusiasm. It was evident that Janica encouraged each student to bring part of his or her own character into the music. Although the music may have been the same, you could hear the child's own character coming through. Janica made learning the piano a magical thing.
I highly recommend Janica as a piano teacher and am happy of her future students who can experience her contagious passion and love of music first hand.

Janica has been a wonderful teacher to my son, and because of her, he has demonstrated excellent progress in his piano playing, and has retained both the love of music, and the desire to keep playing. Daniel first started with Janica in September of 2012 when he was nine years old. Not only has Janica developed his piano skills, but she also developed his interest by providing a very unique curriculum and constantly adjusting Daniel's program based on his progress.
Janica has a unique approach to each child. With Daniel she started with very simple introductory pieces and books, and as Daniel began to play better, she has adjusted his program to be both challenging and interesting. She has carefully included classical pieces into his curriculum and always added appropriate seasonal and holiday songs to keep the lessons fun. Daniel always had at least one extra song in mind which he wanted to play and which was always above his skill level. Janica always found the versions of those songs that were skill level appropriate for Daniel, provided us with sheet music, and worked with him to master those songs.
Daniel's piano curriculum had at least one classical song, several exercise songs, one jazz song, and one other song of his own choosing. As such, his program was very challenging and interesting, as designed by Janica. Daniel has participated in piano recitals with other students of Janica's. This allowed Daniel to display his piano skills and listen to other students play. Janica's students are of different cultures and nationalities and they played a great variety of songs, different both in terms of the styles and techniques, which lets me believe Janica has a truly individual approach to each child.
Being exposed to several different piano teachers with different styles, I think what differentiates an excellent teacher is the ability to connect with students, the ability to design their curriculum individually, and the ability to adapt and change that curriculum based on students' progress. Janica does an excellent job with all of the above, and she has been the best piano teacher we have had.

My daughters (6 & 8) have been taking piano with Janica for a year. We
couldn't be happier! The girls are progressing extremely well, both in
their playing, but also in their understanding of music theory and
technique. I think this latter part is particularly important because
piano lessons should be so much more than piano lessons! For example, I
think working with Janica has made my kids better at math (all those
fraction notes), reading, and just learning to apply themselves and see
the progress that results from effort.
Janica is an accomplished concert pianist, who is at the same time great
with kids. She is warm and playful and truly enjoys the children, while
challenging them to be better every week. I think that's a rare
combination. We would highly recommend her!

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter on behalf of Janica. I have known Janica for about two years when we took the decision to enroll our daughter Regina in her piano lessons.
Prior to Janica, our daughter had been with two teachers. On Thursdays, when she had her lesson, she was miserable. It came to a point when she asked us to terminate her piano lessons. After a year off, our daughter decided to do piano again. Given her previous experience, we researched some local teachers, and we voted for Janica.
It has been wonderful to see the progress that Regina made during her time with Janica. Not only did Regina grow as a piano player but she also enjoyed her lessons and the time she spent with Janica. Her favorite part was the recitals!
During this time, Janica demonstrated all the qualities that make her a wonderful teacher. She focused on my daughter’s strength to develop her lessons. At the same time, she challenged my daugher to learn new skills. Once Regina learned a new piece, she was as happy as us! She was patient, and she encouraged Regina to try and to do better every lesson. She was able to teach her not only how to play the piano but also the importance of music education in a person’s live.
Unfortunately, our daugher is not longer with Janica since we moved to a new state. However, Janica set the bar so high that we are looking for the same qualities in the next teacher.
If you are looking for a caring, passionate, flexible, patient, and knowledgable piano teacher (to mention a few), I strongly recommend Janica.
